- After I added the select code to uugetty, I figured "-r" was just junk
- that had to be preserved for backwards compatibility, and for
- machine-to-machine links without modems.

- "-t 15" is rather impatient for humans. 15 seconds is not a lot of
- thinking time, but it is probably a good idea for machine-to-machine
- links. The "conn" chatting, which looks for whatever the
- modem uses to say the link is ready, removes most needs for "-t xx".
