- Hmm. The only explanation I can think of is that you
- haven't run MAKDEV tape since installing the drive, but as
- of 4.0.1, that should happen automatically on bootup if
- /dev/tape doesn't exist, and a tape drive is present.

- Does 'mt stat' show anything? Are you doing this at the
- command line, or from system manager? The latter wants
- you to specify the tape device; I forget just which button
- it is, but it should be obvious.
