- inst sets files mode 9999 when it can't find the UID (they are
- stored as strings in the *.idb files, not numbers) that matches
- the owner in the idb file. Sounds like you have a problem
- with your password file on the server, or perhaps an NIS
- problem, although all those users should be local (non-NIS).
