  22. 8 feet is worst case, or it may be the sum of a PI and a Personal File
  23. (PI chassis, but just for up to 4 drive modules).  The worst case length
  24. was some of the early PI's at just over 5 feet of cable internally.

  27. | cables of the same length but different vendor completely solved a
  28. | not-so-intermittent parity error on the SCSI bus.  A cable-tester showed no

  30. | tell a good SCSI cable from a bad SCSI cable?

  32. You could use a TDR to do some checking.  Also watch out for the
  33. wrong gauge wires, or not bothering to connect all the ground wires.

  35. Finally, for cables that are twisted pair, the folks doing the SCSI
  36. specs did some testing, and found that certain cable designs (certain
  37. pairs in the center) would work better than others, for reasons that
  38. escape me at the moment.
