- Hello. We are setting up a NeXT Lab here at York for our
- Computer-Assisted Writing Centre. We are trying to decide which word
- processor we should go with. We used to offer emacs on our Unix
- system, and our choice for the new environment seems to be narrowing
- down to either WriteNow or WordPerfect. Can anybody make some
- suggestions and describe their experiences?
-
- Our lab services primarily undergrad level arts, humanities and social
- science courses (about 2000 users per year). The variables most
- important to our making a decision are ease of use and flexibility for
- the student, ease of training, compatibility with other systems,
- ability to handle footnotes, bibliographies, commenting, formatting in
- APA and MLA style, endnotes, customizability, facility to move, copy
- and place text into background and retrieve, grammar and spell
- checkers, etc.
-
- Since I am not able to read this group regularly, please respond to my
- email address.
- Thanks in advance,
- Ron
