  12. Hello.  We are setting up a NeXT Lab here at York for our
  13. Computer-Assisted Writing Centre.  We are trying to decide which word
  14. processor we should go with.  We used to offer emacs on our Unix
  15. system, and our choice for the new environment seems to be narrowing
  16. down to either WriteNow or WordPerfect.  Can anybody make some
  17. suggestions and describe their experiences?

  19. Our lab services primarily undergrad level arts, humanities and social
  20. science courses (about 2000 users per year).  The variables most
  21. important to our making a decision are ease of use and flexibility for
  22. the student, ease of training, compatibility with other systems,
  23. ability to handle footnotes, bibliographies, commenting, formatting in
  24. APA and MLA style, endnotes, customizability, facility to move, copy
  25. and place text into background and retrieve, grammar and spell
  26. checkers, etc.
