- I use the public domain MailService which should be available at
- sonata.cc.purdue.edu:pub/next/2.0-release/{bin,source}. MailService sends
- selected text as a mail message on your local machine (appends the text to
- /usr/spool/mail/your_account). So all you need to do is read mail in Terminal
- on a remote mail host, select a message of interest (including the header),
- select "Mail>Send As A Message" from the Services menu, and then get you new
- message in Mail on your NeXT. This works fine for both NeXT and non-NeXT mail,
- but not so good for really long messages.
-
- Outbound mail is not so convenient. I mail them to myself from Mail, and if
- they're not too long, just open /usr/spool/mail/art in Edit, and copy and
- paste the body of the message (including the NeXT-Attachment: line) into
- Terminal after initiating the sending of mail in Unix mail on my remote host.
- This works best using modems with flow control and error correction, and seems
- to work best if the remote host is in emacs or vi rather than mail itself. For
- long messages, kermit or zmodem seem to be the best approach.
