- : I think comments like this come from people who are used to the ever-evolving
- : technology coming from Apple, and who realize that the PB100 is "only" 4 year
- : old technology repackaged.
- :
- : It's probably difficult for such a person (which includes most people on the
- : net) to put himself into the shoes of the average Price Club/consumer channel
- : shopper, where PClones have run rampant for all these years but nothing like
- : the PB has ever been shown. The PB100 _is_ a good machine, yes--but when
- : you're used to ci's and Quadras, it's tough to look at the PB100 and recognize
- : its worth.
- :
- : This is probably why many people the net hears from, and many people within
- : Apple, consider the PB100 a "dog." It's not, but it seems so under some
- : circumstances.

- Well, I have both a IIci and a PowerBook 100, at home, and I can tell you
- I'm using the 100 about 90% of the time. Mostly for writing, accessing the
- Net, writing code, etc. The 100 is a joy to use and is not a "dog."
-
- And many of my friends at Apple have bought 100s...the $1000 employee price
- a couple of months ago was pretty attractive. I've heard no complaints. In
- fact, one who bought a 140 now wishes he'd gotten the smaller, lighter,
- lead-acid battery 100.
-
- Having one's complete environment (well, almost complete!) in any room of
- the house, at the library, in coffehouses, at parties (Silicon Valley
- parties, you know!), etc., is just amazing. Try it, you'll like it.
