  21. There is a modifier key, namely Command-Option, which will ask you if
  22. you want to rebuild the desktop.  If you look at the "Finder
  23. Shortcuts" menu item it describes this on page 5.  I guess this is a
  24. case of "RTFM" where "M" is the menu.  :-)  I occasionally rebuild my
  25. desktop and it takes under two minutes for about 80 MB.  I use a
  26. freeware extension that automatically saves all my "Finder Comments".
  27. Most of the time I rebuild the desktop is because of an updated
  28. application that has new icons which I want to have visible.

  30. I've been using System 7 for a year and haven't had to re-install it.
  31. It's been very stable for me.
