- With the recently mentioned apple back to school specials hopefully
- coming soon to my local university computer store (:-), I need some
- advice re LCII vs IIsi.
-
- Normal student prices are 1479 for LCII 4/80 vs 2329 for IIsi 5/80,
- (1939 IIsi 3/80), making the LCII the best choice for us.
- *However*, when looking at prices for Amherst and Dartmouth, the
- IIsi's come within reach. Specifically, if a IIsi 5/80 on special
- were about what I expect to pay now for an LCII, is it worth it to
- get the IIsi, or to get the LCII special at around 1100?
-
- What if the IIsi is a couple hundred more (~1600 -- CUs store said
- they mark up a bit more than Dartmouth)?
-
- In other words, what are the hw diffs between them, and based on
- your experience and opinions out there, are the diffs worth the
- money? (for that matter, is it worth-while getting a IIsi 3/80, or
- is 3Mg not enough? how much would it cost to upgrade it, or am I
- better off with the 5/80 *if* I get a IIsi?)
-
- (summary of prices alluded to above:
- LCII 4/80 IIsi 3/80 IIsi5/80
- current student 1479 <- 1939 2329
- Dartmouth sale 1145 1255 1475 <-
- guessed cu sale 1247 1371 1609
-
- [from university store, a recent netnews article, and est based on
- estimated markup on top of amherst's listed price, recent article])
-
- Thanks for any and all advice!!!
