- Help! The printer port on my SE/30 died. I suspect it got fried during a
- recent electrical storm (I have a mini network in the house using phone wire,
- and think it picked up a surge). Anyway, I suspect that the driver/reciever
- ICs are fried. I measured the resistance to ground on the four RX/TX pins,
- and found values from 60-2600 ohms, compared to 100K for the same pins on
- the working modem port. Does is confirm/deny that the drivers/receivers
- are to blame?

- Unfortunately, the SE/30 uses surface mount versions of these chips, which
- I can't seem to locate. Anyone know of a source? How easy are they to
- replace? (I consider myself to have faily good soldering skills, but have
- never worked with surface mount before). I'd rather do this myself, I
- suspect that this would require a logic board swap at the dealer, which I
- guess is going to be quite expensive. Or maybe I should just buy that Quadra
- I've always wanted...
