- Hi --
-
- I once spent a week finding out about PSU's on Macintoshes:
- which ones had the autoranging power supplies and so on.
- I need machines which work in the US, the United Kingdom,
- and France. The first has 110V/60Hz, the latter two 240V/50Hz
- or 220V/50Hz.
-
- It turned out that the machine I wanted to choose didn't have the
- autoranging PSU, and that Apple makes two versions with different
- PSUs, but nothing else different. (Apple -- if you're listening,
- the autoranging PSU is a GREAT feature; a 110/240 switch is
- alright, and fixed-voltages PSUs are TERRIBLE.)
-
- So, netters, can you tell me where I can buy either spares or
- third party bits? Also, I think Apple told me that you can't
- buy the 'foreign' PSU in the US? Anybody know anything about
- this? (Apple? Still there? It took four hours of phone calls
- to dealers and two hours of phone calls to Apple to find this
- out, and then the person was sniffy with me. Tips: a) get your
- 800 numbers in directory assistance and b) get your support
- act together and treat the customer nicely.)
-
- The Apple part number is 661-0652 "Power Sweep Board (220V) Rev B.",
- for the Macintosh Classic II.
-
- Many many thanks for anything people can help me with about
- this. I'm still trying to get into Macland, but have to resolve
- this issue first.
-
- Email preferred.
-
- Thanks again,
- J.
