- Thank you to all who replied to my question about FastMicro, and their 386-40.
- From the information I've received, I have decided NOT to buy from FastMicro
- and would like to ask suggestions on alternate companied.
- My first and foremost concern is Longevity. I want to buy from a reputable
- company that will still be there several years down the line.
- Given the choice, I would get a Dell, Northgate, or Zeos. But I cannot
- afford those big names. I already have a Gateway, and would definately buy
- another Gateway, but I am looking for a better value.
-
- I would like:
- 386-40 or BETTER
- 8 MB RAM
- 130 MB Hard drive or bigger
- ET4000 video
- 15" monitor (Mag Colorview 15" or comparable)
- both floppies
- 8 exp slots, 4+ drive bays
- mini-tower or baby AT case w/ 200w power supply
-
- Companies that I would be interested in are Standard, Centrix, KeyData, HD
- and any other comparable companies. I am not interested in any local brands
- that sell outrageously cheap computers, or buying at a computer fair.
- I want service and reliablity. No fly-by-night companies.
- What do people have to offer? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
-
- (Oh yeah, I am trying to keep the price around $1800 or less -- I might have
- to settle for a 14" monitor)
-
- Thank you,
- Peter Volpe
