  35.     No Michael, my setup was ok in these respects.

  37.     I got many replies by mail. Thanks to all who responded.
  38.     Most of the replies indicated, that people had had the
  39.     same kinds of problems with their ST-02 controllers. It had
  40.     worked with some non-Seagate drives, but these occasions
  41.     were few. What's more surprising - it doesn't seem
  42.     to work with all Seagate drives either.
  43.  
  44.     Anyway, I've decided to buy the Adaptec-1542B controller.
  45.     So, I guess, my problems will soon be history...
