  13. I'm going to move 1,000 miles away in 7 days, and I want to take
  14. my desktop PC with me.

  16. However, after watching UPS drop parcels two feet off the back of
  17. their truck prior to moving them, I'm feeling a little hesitant
  18. about entrusting anyone at all with my PC -- especially my hard
  19. drive.

  21. 1) What's the understood-safe way to ship PCs?  Is there a special
  22. protocol to follow?

  24. 2) I'm worried that my hard drive might be damaged by jostles and
  25. bumps or by the vibration of whatever vehicle it's carried in.  Is
  26. there a way to ensure the head won't bounce on the platters?  Is
  27. it done automatically?  Given a random hard drive, is there a way to
  28. determine if it does do it automatically?
