- I'm going to move 1,000 miles away in 7 days, and I want to take
- my desktop PC with me.
-
- However, after watching UPS drop parcels two feet off the back of
- their truck prior to moving them, I'm feeling a little hesitant
- about entrusting anyone at all with my PC -- especially my hard
- drive.
-
- 1) What's the understood-safe way to ship PCs? Is there a special
- protocol to follow?
-
- 2) I'm worried that my hard drive might be damaged by jostles and
- bumps or by the vibration of whatever vehicle it's carried in. Is
- there a way to ensure the head won't bounce on the platters? Is
- it done automatically? Given a random hard drive, is there a way to
- determine if it does do it automatically?
-
- e-mail replies would be great.
