- I once designed a 386SX machine based on the Intel 82335 chipset. During
- testing of the motherboard we found that it used MORE power in non-turbo mode.
- Reason: turbo mode used page mode memory cycles, non-turbo slowed the machine
- down by not using page mode. Page mode is faster and uses less power.

- I suspect many 486DX designs that slow the CPU by cache invalidation cycles
- will also use more power in non-turbo mode.

- Your machine may well use less power if the 386DX clock is slower in non-turbo
- mode, but it may use more power if non-turbo mode turns off the cache.
