- Hi,
-
- In looking around for good prices for the Adaptec
- 1542B, I've come across the PROMISE D2040.
-
- It's got an impressive list of features, including:-
-
- >528MB drive support for DOS.
- (up to via SIMMS) 16MB cache.
- 5MB data transfer rate.
- supports two floppy drives.
- Co-exists with any other controller.
- Up to 4GB per drive.
- Controlls up to 7 SCSI drives.
-
- They seem to be new to the UK, and they're even more expensive
- than the Adaptec (D2040 price is around #250 - with NO RAM!)
-
- What I'd like to know is:-
-
- 1) Has anyone seen, or even heard of this controller?
-
- 1a) Is it any good?
-
- 2) Does anyone know if it supports / is supported by OS/2 2.0?
-
- Thanks.
-
- Paul
-
- PS If anyone knows of any dealers selling the Adaptec 1542B for less
- than $299, would they please let me know. Thanks.
