  16. I've got an IBM PC XT in lab that I would like to use with an Audio
  17. Precision (AP) System One signal generator and DSP processor.
  18.  
  19. The machine has 640K of memory, 10M hard disk drive, 5.25'' floppy
  20. drive and uses an Amdek amber monochrome video monitor model 310A.
  21.  
  22. I cannot presently run the AP s1.exe control program correctly.  When
  23. I try to, the hard disk is busy loading the program, then the screen
  24. goes blank and the machine just hangs.  On a Dell316SX with color
  25. monitor it works fine.  The AP manual says that a 640K PC XT is
  26. sufficient to run s1.exe.  I don't believe I have any other resident programs.
  27. (I can't tell with the "mem" command, is this because of DOS 3.0 which
  28. is what I am running on the XT?)  The program does not require a mouse
  29. though it is recommended for ease menu cycling.

  31. The XT works fine, for now :), it would be nice to employ it for
  32. dedicated use with the AP generator.

  53. (1) Is the video system I presently have among any of these choices?

  55. (2) Can the XT be upgraded to any of the above choices by adding on a
  56. new video card with the existing monitor?  I have seen some of the
  57. above cards for less than $20 in the Computer Shopper.

  59. (3) Can the XT be upgraded to any of the above choices by adding on a
  60. new video card and a new monitor? :)

  62. (4) Relating to above, is the Amdek 310A monitor capable of graphics?

  64. (5) The machine has no mouse.  Can I add a mouse to this beast?
  65.  
  66. (6) The PC is running MSDOS version 3.0  Would it be a good idea to
  67. upgrade to 5.0?  I have no room for windows on the hard disk however.
