  11. Hi,
  12.
  13. I just found this group, and I'm also new at this so if I make a mistake,
  14. please ignore it.  I've got an HP-48SX with a 512k ram card from Tripod
  15. Data Systems, and I'm loving it.  I've been reading some of these articles,
  16. and I'm wondering how to get some of the stuff that you're talking about.
  17. (Remote control with the hp, Goodies disks, etc...)  I really don't have
  18. access to a modem though.
  19.
  20. I'm somewhat of a programmer (hacker before it became a four (six?) letter
  21. word.)  I would appreciate any neat little tricks and techniques that
  22. anyone could send to me.
  23. My email is:
  24.    nfb2571@dsac.dla.mil  (I think)
  25.
  26. Below I've included a program that I'm proud of (even though there
  27. are probably a million of them around).
  28.
  29. It's an analog clock.  What makes it different though is that before drawing
  30. the screen, it fades out (screen intensity at address #101h & #102h),
  31. then fades back in with the face.  It's a little slow between fadein and
  32. fadeout, but not too much.  If you want to turn it off, but keep the clock
  33. running, push the 'A' key (whatever it's called, the upper left button.)
  34. To stop the program, push 'ENTER' (if you hit 'ON' to stop it, it will leave
  35. junk on the stack, 'ENTER' will clear it off and do a fadeout and fadein.)
  36. FADEIN and FADEOUT are separate programs that could be used in another
  37. application.  The program is an entire directory with 8 files in it.  I
  38. downloaded it with kermit.
  39.
  40. I would really appreciate it if some of you would email me and tell me what
  41. you think of this program, or anything to make it better (or faster.)
  42. I've noticed before I added the screen fading that it pauses (hiccups?)
  43. every 6 seconds or so.  Is there some reason for this? Can I get rid of it?
  44.
  45. I read that some of you need cables.  A friend of mine sells cables and
  46. overlays for the HP-48.  The cables include a 2 meter cable, db-9 to db-25
  47. adapter, and a 720k disk with kermit and some programs on it (I think
  48. he's going to add the program below to it, but I'm not sure.)  It costs
  49. $25.00 with a student discount (he said that if you want to tell him that
  50. you are a student, he'll never know, they are $32.95 otherwise.)  The
  51. overlays have the greek letters and all the blue and orange shift keys.
  52. They cost $10.00 with student discount and $11.95 otherwise.  These are
  53. US dollars, and come with postage paid inside the US.  Outside you'll have
  54. to include postage.  I've got both of them myself, and they are nice.
  55. I used to have an HP cable, but it was a lot shorter (I'm not sure how
  56. much) and didn't come with the software or adapter.  The overlay is
  57. cheaper that what I've seen elsewhere and I think it has more on it.
  58. This isn't a paid advertisement, and I'm not getting anything out of it,
  59. I just thought I'd pass the info to you.
  60. His address is:
  61.
  62.      SCS
  63.      3312 Columbus Ct. #11
  64.      Columbus, OH 43290
  65.      (614) 236-6062
  66.
  67. I hope this information is useful, and I hope you enjoy the program.
  68.
  69. (P.S. again, please email me and tell me what you think of this program;
  70.       comments, suggestions, criticism, whatever)
  71.
  72. (Sorry, but I have to do this)
  73. Disclaimer:
  74. My opinions are my own and not of the Federal Government.
  75.
  76. I'm not sure if I'm suposed to do anything here or not, but the program
  77. starts here.
