- I realize you're kidding (mostly), but I think of this start-up problem as
- a serious flaw in the design of the `48. The problem isn't with how much
- time I have, but with the niche filled by a _calculator_ in my mind.
- A calculator is not a computer, which we expect to require start-up time,
- it's a *calculator*, dammit, and I want it when I want it; NOW!!!!! (:-)
- Joel Kolstad wrote that he got another calculator to solve the problem;
- good for HP's business, but a bad sign for the `48.

- If a quick-on mode, such as I described in my original post, were available,
- there'd be no need for another calculator.

- Another alternative would be to disable the auto-off for a prescribed
- period of time. Can one mess around with this??
