- The (partial) answer to that dump question is that dump on aurora
- (DS 5000/120 with TKZ10 tape drive and Ultrix 4.2) is done without any
- parameters as the tape controller is 'intelligent'. So dump 0f /dev/rmt1h fs
- worked fine....

- BUT!!!

- rdump from the SPARC (ELC running 4.1.1) now thinks I have 2300 ft 1600bpi
- tapes if I do rdump 0f aurora:/dev/rmt1h fs and same error if I do what I was
- doing before. Also rdump from another 5000/120 to aurora yields the following:
- rigor:# rdump 0f aurora:/dev/nrmt1h /dev/rz0a
- DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Mon Jul 27 16:09:15 1992
- DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
- DUMP: Dumping /dev/rrz0a (/) to /dev/nrmt1h on host aurora
- DUMP: Mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
- DUMP: Mapping (Pass II) [directories]

- DUMP: Estimated 9335808 bytes output to file named /dev/nrmt1h

- DUMP: Protocol to remote disk server botched (in rmtgets).
- Lost connection to remote host.
- Try using the -o option.

- There is no -o option documented in dump.

- So, how can I get the sparc to realise it's rdumping to a 525MB tape on a
- 5000/120 and how can I get the other DecStations to dump properly?

- PS: For the sparc I also tried the following:
- (SPARC is terry - DS is aurora)
- aurora# dump 0f /dev/rmt1h `rsh terry dd if=/dev/sd0h`
- Too many words from ``.
