- Hmmm...the Mockingboard used a pair of General Instruments sound chips
- and a pair of 6522 PIAs to generate interrupts. The GI sound chips
- are similar (if not identical) to the single one of the Atari 520ST (dunno
- about the 1040). Each sound chip could generate a number of basic
- waveforms, like triangle, sawtooths, square, and white noise. I believe
- it was also had some programmable volume envelope capability as well.
- Each chip could play 3 (?) waves at once.
-
- Programming the Mockingboard consisted of setting up an interrupt handler
- and using their canned routines, or setting up the registers yourself.
- It's been a very long time since I've played with it...unfortunately,
- I no longer have a Mockingboard (wah!)
