- Okay, in response to my recent post asking about good backup utilities
- that would split large files across floppies to reduce, if not eliminate,
- wasted floppy space, the general response was to use either QuarterBack or
- AmiBack.
-
- Turns out that I was partly wrong in saying that AmiBack wouldn't run
- under 1.3. Purchasing AmiBack 2.0 will get you both a 1.3 and a 2.0
- version.
-
- Now, one final question, which both of the above did not address on the
- outside of the boxes (I've only looked at the boxes in a store): Are the
- files which are backed up to floppy, restoreable without using the same
- utility? In other words, can I restore, say, a single file without
- having to load up the backup utility? The shareware version of the
- backup utility I use, will backup to AmigaDOS-compatible files. So, for
- example, I can restore a file by simply entering: uncompress file.dat.
-
- Thanx for your help,
- Chris
