  11.   I have a 500 that I've done an awful lot of hacking on... it's had
  12. everything done to it at one time or another...

  14.   Right now it's in a large tower case, and since I moved it there it's
  15. been acting flaky...

  17.   I will use it for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, and then it
  18. will go psycho... the screen will go crazy and then usually settle to solid
  19. red. The display on my supraFAXmodem with go EXTREMELY crazy, as the little
  20. LED display will shimmer and dance like a TV tuned to no station... the
  21. machine will then not respond to CTRL-A-A... and will not come up after a
  22. power cycle.

  24.   However, if I open the case and reseat the chips or even bend the
  25. motherboard a little, it will almost always come up. I have the motherboard
  26. mounted as straight as I can get it and it doesn't move of course during
  27. use.

  29.   I gather the problem has something to do with chip seating, but can
  30. anyone perhaps give me a clue as to what chip is most likely going hairy on
  31. me? I assume it was the Agnes, but I am not sure. I also get yellow and
  32. dark blue screens occasionally in lockups.
