- Hi there,
-
- I have a problem with my A2000 which is quite extraordinary - at least to me.
- But first the relevant setup:
-
- A2000 rev. 4.1 with ECS-Agnus and 32 * 41256 (150 ns) RAM chips,
- A2630 (4 MB RAM) with V. 6 ROMS (standard 25 MHz, no tricks).
-
- The problem is: when I switch on the A2000, everything is okay. After a while,
- when the machine gets warm, a strange thing happens. When I press Ctrl-A-A to
- boot the machine and hold down the two mouse buttons to get into the bootup screen
- of the A2630, there are blue stripes all over the boot screen. When I boot the
- machine, everything seems to be okay, but, using the "WritePixel" test of
- AIBB 4.5, I get black dots all over the screen. If I disable FAST_MEM, programs
- I run in CHIP_MEM crash, too. All of this doesn't happen if I boot in 68000 mode.
-
- The question is now, if all this comes from the (very slow) CHIP_MEM chips
- in my A2000?! The symptom described above is not correlated with any other card
- in my A2000 (tested that :-). I have applied Dave Haynies DMA fix (soldered a
- 1 kOhm resistor between pins 11 and 20 of U 605). My last idea is that either
- the 150 ns chips in CHIP_MEM are just a little too slow or that one of the logic
- chips (LS...) is near the edge.
-
- Is this possible, or am I at fault? Do you have any other ideas? I'd be grateful
- for any comment as I have no other clue to solve this one. Please do respond by
- email, I'll post a summary if there is anything of interest.
-
- Thank you for your help.
-
- Hanno
