  23. I have the DeskJet 500 (not color). It prints nicely on xerox-machine type paper.
  24. I haven't tried transparancies yet. The paper can make quite a difference on an
  25. inkjet printer. (Some regular printer paper I tried when I got my DeskJet produced
  26. printouts that didn't look good. I tried some photocopy paper from an office supply
  27. store and got excellent results. (Most phototcopy paper has some indication of
  28. what side to print on [for best results] on the label [usually on the end of the
  29. packet].)

  31. I use Post 1.7 (a PostScript interpreter) to print PostScript documents and graphics
  32. on my DeskJet 500. The results are pretty good.

  34. One problem with the DeskJets (and most inkjet printers) is that when you print 
  35. graphics that have a lot of black (or darker gray) the paper will curl up some.
  36. Unless it is a really dark picture, it usually isn't too bad. Laser printers don't
  37. have this problem though. If I was going to do it again, I'd probably buy either
  38. an HP LaserJet of some kind or the IBM laser printer.

  40. The best thing to do is go to a ComputerLand (or other computer store) and see
  41. what the printer can do in person.

  43. Apparently the newest PaintJet XL(?) can have postscript added later (along with 
  44. an ethernet connection option).

  50. You can add PostScript to at least one (if not all) of IBM's newer laser printers.
  51. (A plus here is you get up to 600 dpi resolution as well... ).
