- I just graduated (with a B.A.) and got a job in which I expect
- to be doing a bit of work over the modem. I've ecked out an
- existence as a student with a 2400 baud modem but now I'm ready
- (to spend $$$) for the big guns ;^).
-
- I'd like to hear from people about which (fast - 9600 baud or better)
- modems you like and dislike. I'm more interested in external modems
- because it would be easier for me to sell it or give it away when I
- want to get another, but I'd also like to hear about any high performance
- internal modems too.
-
- What sort of workload would downloading at 9600 bps+ put on my 68000
- powered A2000? I typically download to a ram disk (I have 5 megs
- of ram). Do some telecom programs have problems at high bps (I use
- VLT)?
-
- please include as much technical information as you can about the
- modems you discuss -- e.g. MNP2-5 or v.42 bis compression, price,
- support software if any (amiga software preferable :^), size ...
-
- I look forward to your replies,
- --Jonathan

- P.S. please respond by posting, unless this subject has been overworked
- recently in which case please respond by email.
