  11. I would like to tap the vast source of knowledge, experience, and
  12. expertise on the net for suggestions and comments on the best way to
  13. implement the following project...

  15. Carnegie Mellon University is in the process of putting together an
  16. undergraduate / graduate student robotics lab.  It's purpose is to
  17. provide the space and equipment for students to perform excersizes,
  18. experiments, and assignments that will illustrate and reinforce concepts
  19. learned in the classroom.
  20.  
  21. Areas of study will include control, manipulation, vision, AI, 
  22. perception, and mobile robots.
  23.  
  24. In specific, I would like to hear about ...
  25.     1. Descriptions of facilities
  26.     2. Equipment recomendations
  27.     3. Sources for equipment
  28.     4. Overview or syllabus of the academic courses taught in the Lab
  29.     5.  Recommended assignments and experiments for those courses
  30.     6. Anything else I should consider
  31.     7. Anything I should avoid
  32.  
  33. Does anyone operate or use such a facility?  How is it used?  What
  34. courses are taught  there?  Are there any particular assignments and lab
  35. excersizes that you can suggest?
