- Folks,
-
- There is a nasty little bug in the last xntp3 distribution announced
- recently. It can result in the frequency-error limit to be set to
- zero, which causes a "drift exceeds 0.0ppm" upon startup and
- "cannot cope" message sometime later, after which the daemon
- folds its tent and goes home. The problem is fixed in the distribution
- now in the pub/ntp/xntp3.tar.Z distribution on louie.udel.edu. This
- problem is only in the most recent distribution announced a week ago.
- As with that distribution, the changes are mainly in the area of
- portability and cosmetics. When the issues of copyright, encryption and
- other sordid issues are settled, I'll make another announcement. This
- distribution has all the patches through patch9, as revealed in the
- pub/ntp/patch.xntp3 file on louie.udel.edu. If your patch isn't there,
- please squawk.
