  32.     I'm assuming that when you say `group name' you mean the name of the group
  33.     identifier, as in `FOO' from `[FOO,BAR]'.

  35.     Rather than changing UICs and file ownership and moving things around, why
  36.     not just change your definitions and do a little renaming?  Delete the
  37.     [3RDYEAR,*] accounts, REMOVE /IDENTIFIER 3RDYEAR, and then RENAME
  38.     /IDENTIFIER 2NDYEAR 3RDYEAR, followed by renaming the directory you
  39.     mention?  You can then create a new 2NDYEAR group identifier and add the
  40.     new students to the group.
