- We have a 3rd party SCSI 9track tape drive (manufactured by M4)
- connected to a VAXstation 4000/VLC. So far we've been reading
- single volume foreign tapes successfully, also writing files using
- COPY work fine. However BACKUP causes all kinds of problems. The
- most serious one is that if the tape runs out, BACKUP generates a
- "tape label processing" error and aborts(, and the tape does not rewind
- automatically). We've been talking to the vendor and they now say it's
- VMS's fault and that BACKUP will never work with SCSI 9track tape
- drives. Can anyone tell me if this is true or not?!! DEC sells their
- own SCSI 9track drive (TS05/TS07). Does anyone know if those drive
- work fine with multivolume backups?
-
- Is there another 3rd party vendor that makes a properly working drive?
-
- Thanks
