- Hi,
- I have a 386-40 with a 170Meg HD. I used to have only 5Megs RAM, so I
- formated my disk as a FAT partition initially. Lattely, I've upgraded to
- 8Megs-o-RAM and want to re-format my disk for HPFS.
-
- What I want to know is whether I can safely backup my harddisk in a DOS
- session using a DOS backup software, format my disk for HPFS, and then go
- restore the data the same way, i.e. in a DOS session, using a DOS backup
- software. Of course, I know that I will have to use OS/2's backup/restore
- for the critical stuff, which BTW I wouldn't mind if someone could tell me
- what that is, to make sure I'm on the right track.
-
- Any other pointers would be appreciated. Also personnal experience in
- this matter. Please feel free to voice anything that might be usefull, even
- if you think I already know it.
-
- Thanks.
-
- P.S. Please reply via e-mail and if there is any interest, I will post a
- summary, and then my success/failure report afterwards.
