- Can someone tell me what's wrong -- I was installing OS/2, in dual boot mode
- (existing FAT file system with DOS 5.0). My system is as follows --
- 386 DX 33MHz, 8 Mbyte, AMI Bios,
- 4096 Seagate (80 MBytes MFM), WD clone HFD-CC
- Trident SVGA 1024x768 1 Mbyte
- Fast Trap track ball on serial port 1
- (uses DOS device driver to be Microsoft mouse compadable)
-
- Setup DOS 5.0 as per OS/2 installation manual.
- Load OS/2 diskettes 1-6 & Installation Diskette --- took over 45 minutes.
- System does a re-boot.
- Gets to "Loading system -- please wait" -- several minutes of disk activity
- then a black screen and no disk activity for many minutes.
- I hit the reset button.
- Then got
- 4 minutes of "Loading system -- please wait" again
- 2 min. black screen with cursor in upper left corner
- 2 min. white screen
- 2 min. white screen with little black clock
- a second clock replaced with arrow
- 7 min. black clock again
- gave up -- turned machine off !!
-
- I have 2 questions --
- 1) WHAT'S GOING ON ???
- 2) How can I get my track ball to work with OS/2, since under DOS,
- it requires that I load a device driver to make it Microsoft
- compadible ?
