- Well, 4 MB of ram is really the _minimum_. We have upgraded one of our 386
- system to 8 MB and still find that it runs quite slow. But if you move up
- to a 486... :).
-
- I think you'll find that hardware requirements will increase drastically and
- faster for any setup. Even Windows programs nowadays need 10 to 30 Meg of
- harddisk space. We just got the new Corel Draw 3.0 and it takes up about
- 25 Meg of disk space. We are using it under Windows 3.1 and it runs sloooooow
- on a 386. Really need a 486 to run it comfortably. And we also bought
- MSC C++ 7.0 which runs under good'o'DOS but it came with 21 high density
- 1.44 disks. Now I know that perhaps this is not a good comparison because
- these are some of the larges packages around. But my point is that I think
- systems requirement increases will happen in all platforms, not just OS/2,
- not just Windows. In fact, I think computer parts are going out of date
- faster than it is affordable for the average joe. How many upgrades have I
- gone through in the last 2 years.... hmmm.... A lot more than back in the
- good'o'XT days. But that's another story.
