- SJB> After I set up a 50 MB primary FAT partition and formatted it, it
- SJB>started to read files from disk 2. Shortly thereafter, it hangs. It givess
- SJB>me the following error code.
-
- My Adaptec 1542b gives me trouble also; I always get a SYS0045 error on
- the second disk.
-
- Check the following:
-
- Is your 1542b set for default, 5.0 MB/s DMA rate? Does it run
- it's internal DMA test loop successfully? (see manual)
-
- Are your termination resistors set up properly?
-
- Is your bus speed 8 MHz?
-
- Does your BIOS shadow adapter ROM?
-
- Also, try doing the install in non-turbo mode.
-
-
- IBM does have an APAR for this, but it is not done yet. The number is
- PJ03892, and if you call the IBM 800 number, they will put you on the
- list of "interested parties."
-
- good luck.
