- Summary: Selective Install is the culprit
-
-
- Problem: change from VGA to 8514/A mode using Selective Install and then
- all proportional fonts are mangled ... lose parts at the end, especially
- in icon text, and some characters in some programs are mangled.
-
- Tech Support at Boca helped me out ... it seems
- Selective Install tries to change the font files when you go to an 8514,
- but fails because of course they are in use.
-
- So a complete reinstall will do the trick (and did) ... also, unpacking
- the fonts whereever they are on the install disks and booting from floppy
- and copying over should do it.
-
- Don't forget a reinstall _will_ keep your old desktop in use, so a reinstall
- might be simplest.
-
- Dunno if this should go in bug lists and or the FAQ or not.

- human...Why have we not yet acquired this insight in relation to the world

- the insane are violated by us, and we hinder them from living according to
- their ethical laws...Now we must endeavor to overcome the dead point in our
- realtionship to insanity." --Wieland Herzfelde, 1914
