- Just out of pure curiosity, why would a BIOS be a problem for OS2? After all,
- BIOS code is written to be run in REAL mode. I thought OS2 runs in the
- flat PROTECTED mode. Is the OS making BIOS calls for I/O & such? It would
- seem to be a drag on the system speed.
- Also, there is a known bug in the AMI bios that the Coherent folks have
- long known about-- the BIOS does not reset all of it's data structures on a
- warm boot. Doing things like writing to CMOS memory always have to be
- immediately followed by a hard reset, else the info will not take properly.
- Apparently this messes up Coherent somehow.
