- To me, it hasn't got any sense to cache the swapfile.
- The swapfile is used by OS/2 because of memory shortage. If you
- have lots of RAM (16 Mb and up), there should be no use for a swapfile.
- (in normal operation with a few applications running)
- With only 4Mb, the swapfile is used to a point where things slow down
- considerably.
- Now, if you use up RAM to cache things, the swapfile will be used more.
- OK, the swap is faster, but done much more, so globally, you slow down.
-
- My advice is : if you have more than 8Mb of RAM, you may use a cache
- for some files, but not SWAPPER.DAT. If you have less, dont cache at all
- or use less than 512 Kb for the cache.
