- I know this subject has been beaten into the ground, but I'd like to
- ask one more question about using a 16550AFN to get transfer rates up
- around 1600 CPS. This is not specifically an OS2 question, but I am
- running Procomm under OS/2, so it does qualify, kind of.
-
- I currently have a line at the bottom of my config.sys file which sets
- up COM1 at 19.2kB, turns on the appropriate things, and prints out a
- message saying "Asynchronous communications mode has been set" or
- something to that end. The modem is a USR Courier HST DS, which I
- have set up to use hardware handshaking, selective compression (&k3 I
- think), and I've set the baud rate between the port and the modem
- fixed at 19.2kB. Inside Procomm, I set the baud rate to 19.2kB, set
- the rest of the parameters for a number, and make a call.
-
- Here's where the problem happens. Regardless of the fact that I set
- the DCE/DTE baud rate fixed at 19.2, the port is set to the connect
- baud rate for the call. This means that if I connect to a modem at
- 9600, I only get about 960CPS transfer rate.
-
- What am I doing wrong? I think I've given enough information, but if I
- left something out, let me know.
-
- Also, I'm usually trying to download stuff from work using sz and sb
- from a Sun SPARC2. Text transfers work fine at about 960CPS, but
- binary ones only creep along at about 600CPS. Any suggestions for
- this?????
-
- Thanks for any help.
