  13. A while back there was a post regarding GTAK100, the GNU TAR port to OS/2 
  14. that supports tape drives on SCSI adapters.  I replied to that posting, 
  15. saying that since I got the DOS version working, it was probably easy to get 
  16. the protected mode version working.  BOY, WAS I WRONG!!!

  18. I spent 3 hours last night trying to get it to work on my system.  My 
  19. configuration is as follows:

  21.     Fivestar 386/25 w/AMI BIOS, 5/89 vintage (Yes, it does work!;)
  22.     10MB RAM (4MB-9chip, 4MB-3chip, 2MB-3chip 256K - no crashes yet)
  23.         213MB Maxtor IDE drive
  24.     Internal Zoom 2400 Modem
  25.     DFI SVGA (Trident 8800 chipset)
  26.     Adaptec AHA-1522 SCSI adapter
  27.     Archive Viper 2150S Tape Drive
  28.  
  29.     I've got the Adaptec BIOS enabled at C800, boot disabled, adapter 
  30.     SCSI address at 7, Tape drive address at 0.

  32. I'm loading in my config.sys via BASEDEV the os2scsi.dmd, os2aspi.dmd,
  33. aha152x.add, DEVICE=c:\os2\aspitape.sys TAPE$0 0 S0, and 
  34. SET TAPE=+++TAPE$4.  When booting, aspitape responds like it's loading, and 
  35. I get no response from the ASPI manager or the AHA152X driver.  When I do a 
  36. TAPEP STATUS, it responds saying no driver loaded.

  38. What am I doing wrong?  The docs for the adaptec aspi beta and the newest 
  39. aha152x drivers just say copy the new over the old, but they don't say 
  40. anything about switches.  The AHA1522 came with DOS, Netware and SCO Unix 
  41. drivers, but no OS/2 drivers - therefore no OS/2 docs.  The OS/2 readme file 
  42. wasn't much help, either.

  44. Could the adaptec beta os2aspi.dmd be conflicting with IBM's os2scsi.dmd?
