  21. Best way I've found so far to get global aliases loaded at startup is to
  22. create a STARTUP.CMD file in the root directory of your boot drive, with
  23. the following:

  25. \4os2\shralias
  26. alias /r \4os2\aliases
  27.  
  28. Substitute the appropriate path for the shralias program (supplied with
  29. 4OS2) and your alias file.

  31. As for SUBST, I don't believe that this works in OS/2 at all, though it
  32. does work in a VDM.  SUBST, JOIN and APPEND are all potentially
  33. hazardous commands--they lie to the system about what's going on, and
  34. things can get very confused.  Personally, I *really* wish that OS/2 had
  35. hard and soft links, which would remove the need for these wierd DOS
  36. commands, and would provide additional functionality as well.
