- You can *install* NT from any CD-ROM drive that you can access from MS-DOS
- with ISO 9660 support (ie: MSCDEX). However, once it's running, NT will only
- recognize certain CD-ROM/SCSI controller combinations, and the SBPro's
- controller isn't SCSI.
-
- To install NT from a non-supported CD-ROM/SCSI combination, you just run a
- batch file from the CD-ROM under DOS, which will install the flexboot program
- and copy the NT files to your hard drive and set up a few things. Then
- follow the directions and edit a few files and try booting NT. I haven't
- actually gotten NT to work yet, but I think it's because it doesn't like
- my VGA card; I'm going to try it with a different (supported) card soon.
-
- I installed NT this way from a supported NEC CD-ROM drive hooked up to an
- unsupported NEC SCSI card.
-
- The gist of it is, you don't need a supported SCSI card to install it, but
- you do if you want to access a CD-ROM or other SCSI device from within NT.
