  15. A new PC diagnostics program is entering its final beta testing
  16. stage in mid-September.  I still need about a dozen beta testers
  17. to check it out.

  19. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS PROGRAM WILL NOT DAMAGE YOUR
  20. COMPUTER.  The only incident has been a badly cooled 50 MHz 486
  21. that reportedly ceased to function during the maximum system
  22. load test (but then;  OS/2 on that computer would have done the
  23. same).  Release from any liability is part of this beta testing
  24. concept.

  26. The program will test PC hardware for failures and weak components.
  27. Areas tested include CPU, CoCPU, IRQ's, DMA, Keyboard, COM ports,
  28. LPT ports (with loopback plug), CRT adapter, fixed disk(s), floppy
  29. disk and so on.  There's also a maximum system load test that will
  30. find any weakspots in the system during a run'em-all-at-once -type
  31. test.

  33. Interactive tests can be performed on the CRT, CRT controller,
  34. mouse, keyboard and joystick, among others.

  36. System information routines include IRQ and DMA use, devices,
  37. memory use, logical block device map, physical drive map, VGA
  38. identification and others.

  42. address,  phone number and a description of the system(s) you
  43. can test the program on.  I will hand pick those who make it.
  44. The main factor will be an even mix of different systems from
  45. the PC/XT level up to 486's.  I would appreciate responses
  46. from only those who have time to look at the program (unlike
  47. myself who has taken part in many beta-tests,  but rarely had 
  48. time to really evaluate a product).  The program will be mailed
  49. via the U.S. Postal Service,  thus ONLY APPLICANTS IN THE U.S. 
  50. can be included.

  52. Any information you e-mail me will be held confidential,  not
  53. released to outside parties,  not used in any marketing,  and
  54. those which are not selected for beta-testing will be destroyed.
