- I noticed that when copying disks using DR-DOS's (extended) diskcopy
- program, the copied disks get corrupted if diskcopy has to swap to
- EMS. Swapping to disk or to XMS goes fine, as far as I see, but EMS
- has problems. This is with no TSRs, no peculiar device drivers but
- an EMS driver resident, on a 286. Oh, it's DR-DOS 6.02, with the
- april update installed (the one that circulates on the internet,
- I haven't seen _any_ shop-available updates in Europe for DR-DOS 6)
-
- This is with no TSRs installed, and with as few device drivers as
- possible (EMS driver and screen saver). I have a 286 computer with
- hardware EMS 4.0 memory, and I've extensively tested that EMS (and
- I'm using DESQview normally around the clock, and that pretty much
- uses the EMS... btw, same problems within DESQview, of course, but
- also outside).
-
- I didn't check diskcomp thouroughly, but I guess it has the same
- problems (why doesn't diskcomp just calculate a CRC per sector?
- seems good enough for me, and you don't run out of memory).
-
- Did anybody else notice this? (On a 386, note that normally your
- XMS and EMS come from the same pool, and diskcopy will choose
- XMS over EMS).
-
- I love the extra possibilities offered by the DR-DOS programs but
- then I really assume that they also work... :/
