- I got an e-mail response from:

- #What you should have purchased was a C compiler which comes with a DOS
- #Extender. WATCOM C from guess who, WATCOM is one of the BEST optimizing
- #compilers on the market. It will produce 32 bit DOS executables (the DOS
- #Extdner makes this possible), 32 bit Windows executables, NOVELL Netware
- #Loadable Modules (NLMs), OS/2 16 and 32 bit executables, and AutoCAD ADS
- #an ADI applications (to extend AutoCAD Release 11).

- Thanks for the reply Mario! I tried to send e-mail but without luck.
- Some quick followup questions: Any idea of the phone number for
- Watcom? I saw that the "Programmer's Paradise" has Watcom C listed
- for $629. I need to see if we can get an educational discount though.
- If I were to use something like Watcom C, would I essentially be able
- to use existing code or does it require special function calls to make
- use of the extended memory? If anyone else has information relating
- to this topic, please send e-mail.
-
- If there is sufficient interest, I will post a followup article.
-
- Thanks again,
-
