  13. I just recently acquired an Adaptek 1542 SCSI controller.  I installed
  14. in the PC and Linux now tells me:

  16.   0 hosts with 0 tapes 0 disks (or something quite close to this)

  18. Am I to assume that it effectively sees the SCSI board?  My presumption
  19. is that since it is _now_ telling me this (wasnt before) that it does 
  20. see it.  Some clarification required here...

  22. Assuming that it does see it, what would be this device name?  Would have
  23. to create the new device?  If so, how would I go about it?  I am not 
  24. familiar enough with *ix to attempt just anything.

  26. A while ago, someone posted that he had been able to get 4 com ports
  27. working under linux, but that some minor surgery had to be performed 
  28. on the board (secondary I beleive) to properly handle the IRQs.  Would 
  29. someone have done this already?  If so, could he/she post how to go 
  30. about making the necessary changes to the board in order to get 
  31. com3: and com4: to work?
