A strange thing happened when I set up a fresh Linux system on a 386sx by cloning my existing system. When you try and log in via one of the serial ports ttys1 or ttys2, you get the login prompt but as soon as you type a character it does not display but just respawns the login promts again. Local consoles log in fine.
Also the serial ports work fine from xcomm etc. One thing I noticed is the /dev/ttys1 &2 files keep changing their group back to system though I set them to other. All the files work fine on my other system. I am using poeigl with linux 0.96cp2 and gcc2.2.2b. The only difference between the systems is I don't have a copy of the compiler or the source directories for Linux as the system is meant tobe a mail/news only server.
