- You obviously have a different version of laceup than he does (or I
- do). Having done just exactly what you suggest so bluntly, on boot the
- system shows a map of partitions with 2 highlighted by an asterisk, and
- waits for a partition number to be entered.
-
- You must have missed my follow-up to my previous post. This
- post was hung at my host for nearly a week. In that weeks time Rick
- and I had several correspondences about his problem. I had forgotten
- about this post until it mysteriously appeared this week. I do admit I
- jumped too quickly to those famous words RTFM :)
- The asterisk which highlights partition 2 shows you that if
- you wait long enough, almost 30 sec. on my machine, partition 2 will
- be booted. This is exactly per the manual.
-
- When you tell someone to RTFM it's wise to be sure that what the FM
- says is correct. In this case, at least for some versions of laceup (or
- some machines), this isn't the case.
-
- It turns out that Rick was simply not waiting long enough for
- the default to be selected. The manual was correct. (at least that is my understanding of what happened.)
-
- I also noted that evil things happened when I just hit ENTER to take
- the default. It didn't. I'm perfectly willing to believe that this is a
- BIOS anomaly, but no amount of following the directions will help.
-
-
- According to my documentation, the way to select the default is to
- simply wait. It makes no mention of hitting ENTER to select it. Thus following the directions, the ones I have at least, will help in this case.
-
- P.S. Sorry about taking the bandwidth to respond to this post. But
- public flames deserve public response.
