  21.     I know of a couple of tools.  I am working on a GroupSystems (U of
  22.     Arizona GDSS toolkit) tool which is primarily intended for pre-design
  23.     work in architecture - but some of its features might be extendible
  24.     into the design phase.  Mark Pendergast of the University of Florida
  25.     and Ventana Corporation (pendergast@ventana.com) has developed a tool
  26.     called GroupGraphics which is a robust group graphics editor.  It will
  27.     be demoed by Ventana at Groupware '92.  I am making use of his tool for
  28.     architecture pre-design.

  30.     I recently returned from the "Design and Decision Support Systems in
  31.     Architecture" conference in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.  At the
  32.     conference there was one other individual who presented a paper about
  33.     multi-user graphics systems.  If you are interested, send me e-mail and
  34.     I will dig out his name for you.  He is based in Britain and is trying
  35.     to set up a distributed design environment in Britain and New Zealand. 
  36.     It was interesting - but I do not know far along his actual work is.

  38.     I question your statement that "CAD seems to be heading towards
  39.     cooperative design."  I have seen no evidence that this is the case in
  40.     practice - and have run into considerable hostility when broaching the
  41.     topic with practicing architects.  Most architects view design as
  42.     inherently an individual activity.
