- Do I detect a note of cynicism here? :-) The information comes from
- Dataquest reports. Dataquest uses estimated units shipped, converted
- into sales. The market in question is the entire modem market: slow,
- fast, data terminal modems, PC modems, leased line modems, etc.

- Hayes' share increased from somewhere around 7.5% to about 9.6% from
- 1985 through 1990, according to the Dataquest figures, which are fairly
- well regarded in the industry. Compare this to the big players like
- Codex, UDS or Racal-Milgo, all of which own more than 10% of the market.

- Companies such as Telebit, USR, etc., are way down there in the
- fractional to low-single-digit precentages.
