  12. I just got a V32bis modem with V42bis. I call up a few local BBS and
  13. have been able to get >1600cps download speeds with zip files. This
  14. sounds about the norm. However I was under the impression that with
  15. text files, I should with the V42bis compression get 38400 or better.
  16. Thus when I am reading stuff like News or Fidonet etc. the screen
  17. updates should be blindingly fast if both sides are doing compression.
  18. This does not happen. My screen updates (admittedly using ANSI
  19. graphics) seem more like 9600 speed. This is under DOS using PC+.
  20. What I am doing wrong or are my expectations incorrect.
